Learning objectives
On completion of this module, participants will be able to:
- Summarise the current landscape of opioid dependence and recognise where progress needs to be made to improve care, particularly for highly stigmatised groups
- Compare the pharmacokinetic and pharmacologic properties of the available opioid agonist therapies to determine their suitability for different patient profiles
- Explain the benefit of antagonist and adjunct therapies for detoxification regimes
- Formulate a treatment plan that combines pharmacological agents and psychosocial support and apply it to an individual patient
