Biography
Dr. Lorenzo Somaini, Ph.D., Medical Doctor graduated at the University of Pavia in 1994 and specialist in Clinical Pharmacology in 1999, has been working for several years as a therapist for substance and alcohol users.
In 2005 he received his Ph.D degree from University of Pavia, Department of Internal Medicine. Is the author of several scientific papers published in Italian and international journals, and lecturer at Italian and international meetings on alcohol and drug dependence. He is a president of Scientific Commette of S.I.Pa.D (Italian Society of Addiction Medicine). He has focused his research on the factors of vulnerability to addiction, the development of analytical methods for abused drugs and substances, the influence of pharmacological treatments on immune system and pharmacogenetics, with a particular interest in long half-life opiate.
Currently, he is a director at the Addiction Treatment Center, Local Health Unit, Biella, Italy. He collaborated with several International Scientific Society (EUROPAD, WFTOD, UNO-DC) and in 2015 he received Dole and Nyswander Award from AATOD.
