Biography

Dr Julia Lewis is a Consultant Addiction Psychiatrist and Clinical lead for addiction services in the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board in South Wales. She is also a visiting Professor at the University of South Wales. She has worked in the addictions’ field for over 20 years and has a particular interest in guidance and policy development. She has worked with Welsh Government on several of their national treatment frameworks and is a member of their Substance Misuse National Partnership Board. She was a member of the working group responsible for the most recent update to the ‘Drug misuse and dependence: UK guidelines on clinical management’ (Orange guidelines) and the working group developing the first UK national guidelines on the management of alcohol use disorders. She chairs both the Gwent Harm Reduction Group and the Gwent Drug-Related Deaths Review Panel.
