Biography
Dagmar Hedrich is lead scientist for harm reduction at the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction, based in Lisbon. She holds a master’s degree in Psychology and completed postgraduate training in the treatment of addictions in 1985. She has a longstanding interest in the field of drug-related harm reduction and has worked in longitudinal research on heroin addiction and local drug policy coordination in Germany. Later, she worked as international consultant to UNODC, UNAIDS and the EU and as demand reduction officer at the Council of Europe Pompidou Group before joining the EMCDDA in 2001. She has published on a range of harm reduction policies and interventions in community and prison settings, contributed to European and international guidance, and serves on advisory boards of EU-funded multi-country projects.
