Sharon Walsh is Professor of Behavioral Science, Psychiatry and Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Director of the Center on Drug and Alcohol Research at the University of Kentucky. Her clinical research has focused on the clinical pharmacology of opioid and cocaine dependence, including pharmacodynamics, abuse liability and pharmacokinetic studies of licit and illicit opioids and opioid treatment agents, such as buprenorphine, methadone and levo-alpha acetylmethadol (LAAM). Professor Walsh has also evaluated potential pharmacotherapies for efficacy in the treatment of cocaine dependence. She has served as an advisor to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and numerous other organizations.
